Hold That Line

This is a paper and pencil game designed by Sid Sackson and included in his book A Gamut of Games. Board Game Geek has a page devoted to it.

Rules

This is a simple paper and pencil game Sid Sackson pitched as an alternative to Tic-Tac-Toe, with the advantage there is never a draw.

The winner is the player left by their opponent with no legal move, making it an inverse to most games.

As the game develops, a line joining 16 dots in a four-by-four grid grows. Except for the first turn (which I've arbitrarily made the red player), a player has to start at either end of the line and extend it to any dot which can be legally reached. The line may not cross itself and no dot may be touched twice.
